Ashley Gott (Winterport, Maine) went 3-for-5 at the plate and first-year pitcher
Kelly Reid (Nantucket, Mass.) fanned 10 in the circle to help lead the University of New England to an 8-2 win over the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in non-conference softball action Thursday morning (Mar. 22) at the Cape Coral Sports Complex, as part of the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic.
The Nor'easters move to 5-4 with the victory, while the Corsairs drop to 1-6 on the year.
UNE led 4-2 entering the top of the 7th, but gained some insurance runs with four in the last frame. Three singles to start the inning and five in all did the damage.
Reid limited UMass Dartmouth to five hits and one walk to get her second win of the season. She allowed one earned run after surrendering three hits in the 4th.
Kaitlin Hogan had a hit and a run scored for the Corsairs.
