FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Theresa Kelley and Arielle Doering combined for nine strike outs and allowed one hit from the circle as Amherst College moved to 7-0 on the season with a 7-0 win over the University of New England in non-conference softball action (Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic) Wednesday morning (Mar. 21) at the Lee County Sports Complex.

Idalia Friedson went 3-for-3 with three RBI to pace the offense, and Donna Leet added a 2-for-3 performance with two RBI.

UNE got its lone hit from junior Megan Gauger (South Paris, Maine) in the bottom of the 2nd inning when the Nor'easters were already down, 4-0. The Lord Jeffs recorded another run in the 3rd and two more in the 4th to provide the final margin.

First-year Kelly Reid (Nantucket, Mass.) fanned four in five innings of relief for UNE (3-4).
