FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Julie Sweeney surrendered one hit and an unearned run to lead the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh to a 6-1 victory over the University of New England in non-conference softball action Monday morning (Mar. 19) as the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic continued at the Lee County Sports Complex.
The Titans improved to 5-2 on the season behind Sweeney's efforts, as the pitcher fanned eight and walked one in seven innings of work.
A run for UNE in the top of the 2nd was matched in the bottom of the frame by Oshkosh, before the Titans tacked on three in the 3rd to go up 4-1. Julia Burns -- who scored twice in the game -- launched a two-run homer in the inning.
