FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Lauren Whitby allowed three hits and Michaela Larabee had three of her own as Hendrix College (Ark.) edged the University of New England softball team, 2-0, in a non-conference contest at the Lee County Sports Complex Monday afternoon (Mar. 19), as part of the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic.

The Warriors pulled their record even at 5-5 with the win behind the pitching efforts of Whitby, who struck out four and walked one.

Scoreless after four full innings, Hendrix worked Larrabee around to score following her lead-off single in the 5th. The Warriors added an unearned run in the 7th to settle on the final result.

UNE first-year Kelly Reid (Nantucket, Mass.) fanned four and walked one in the setback. Sophomores Amanda Vaudreuil (Windham, N.H.) and Jessica Potter (Crown Point, N.Y.), along with first-year Gabrielle LaRoche (Deerfield, N.H.), accounted for the Nor'easters' hits in the contest.

Big Blue is now 3-3 on the year.
