BRISTOL, R.I. -- The University of New England placed third out of five teams at the two-day Snowball Invitational, which concluded Saturday (Dec. 1) at the Roger Williams University Aquatics Center. The host Hawks captured the event title with a score of 837.
UNE totaled 618.5 to wind up 10 points back of Colby-Sawyer College (628.5), though, the Nor'easters did finish ahead of the Chargers in the swimming-only results.
Western New England University (465) and Gordon College (312) rounded out the field.
Sophomore
Kelly Dolyak (Cheshire, Conn.) backed up her individual win in the 500-yard freestyle (5:40.16) from Friday night with another victory in the 1,650 free (19:39.70) to lead Big Blue.
Junior
Jenn La Comfora (Worcester, Mass.) also claimed first place during Saturday's events, taking the 200 backstroke in 2:17.90. Additionally, she took second in the 400 IM with a time of 5:06.58.
First-year
Sara DeAngelo (Hamilton, N.J.) touched the wall third in that same 400 IM (5:10.80), while placing third in the 200 butterfly as well (2:29.59).
The Nor'easters took second and third in the 200 free with the efforts of first-year
Sam Briggs (Oakland, Maine) and senior
Rachel Hanley (Wiscasset, Maine). The pair clocked times of 2:10.46 and 2:10.87, respectively.
UNE completes its 2012 portion of the schedule next Saturday (Dec. 8) at Western New England.
