BRISTOL, R.I. -- The University of New England women's swimming team is not far off the pace after Friday's (Nov. 30) opening session at the Snowball Invitational, holding onto third place at the Roger Williams University Aquatics Center. The Nor'easters (163) trail the host Hawks (187) and Colby-Sawyer College (183) in the points so far.

Gordon College (140) and Western New England University (92) round out the five-team field.

Sophomore Kelly Dolyak claimed a victory in one of the three individual events of the night (500-yard freestyle) to help the Big Blue cause. Her time of 5:40.16 was good for a three-second cushion in front of Gordon's Erin Walker.

UNE took second place (1:48.53) in the 200 freestyle relay behind only Colby-Sawyer (1:45.24), and logged a third-place showing in the 400-yard medley relay (4:30.36).

The meet resumes Saturday morning (10 a.m.) for sessions 2-4.
