Mustangs race to non-conference win over UNE

NEWTON, Mass. -- Mount Ida College put five players in double figures on Tuesday (Nov. 20) as it registered a 90-52 men's basketball victory over the University of New England at the Athletic Center.

Evens St. Juste led the Mustangs (2-1) with 18 points off the bench and John Fortes notched 15 for the hosts, who connected on 56 percent (30 of 54) shot attempts in the game. Cameron Walker finished with 14, Aaron Kelly had 12, and Jeffrey McNair added 10.

The Nor'easters (0-3) received a team-high 12 points from junior guard Charles Fenner III (Bronx, N.Y.), and got an additional 11 from first-year forward Jesse Dykstra (Douglas, Mass.), who made five of his six field tries on the night.

Mount Ida held a 4-2 edge early on before running off 13 straight points in a span of three minutes to seize control of the contest. Kelly had seven during the spurt.

The Mustangs tallied the last six points of the frame to hold a 49-26 cushion at the half, and worked the advantage up as high as 47 points (82-35) during second-half action.

UNE heads to the Harbor Invitational Tournament hosted by UMass Boston this weekend, to take on the host Beacons (Friday) and either Trinity College (Conn.) or the College of St. Joseph (Vt.) on Saturday.
