Nor'easters blank Worcester State, 3-0

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. -- The University of New England women's volleyball team breezed to a 3-0 win over Worcester State University on Saturday (Oct. 6) in a neutral-site match held at Eastern Connecticut State University's Geissler Gymnasium. Set scores were 25-19, 25-14, and 25-16.

Senior Paige Curran (Chelmsford, Mass.) and junior Angie Brunette (North Andover, Mass.) combined for 22 kills to pace the Nor'easters (9-5). Curran added three blocks and an attack percentage of .706 to her stat-line.

Junior setter Maria Kuehl (Middleton, N.H.) dished out 28 assists to go with 10 digs, while sophomore Leah Janelle (Madbury, N.H.) and junior Kirsta Adie (Tyngsboro, Mass.) went for an additional 15 and 11 digs, respectively. Adie was also perfect in 17 service reception attempts.

After falling behind the Lancers, 5-0, in the first set, UNE later used a 7-1 run to gain a 21-14 cushion, and control of the frame. Curran and Kuehl each had a pair of kills in the spurt.

From then on, the Nor'easters met little resistance from Worcester State (9-8), which was led by Alyssa Jasper with six kills.
