STANDISH, Maine -- The University of New England had four players record eight or more kills in a 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-23) victory over St. Joseph's College (Maine) in a non-conference women's volleyball match played Monday (Oct. 22) evening at the Harold Alfond Center.
The win was the 25th consecutive triumph over the Monks for UNE, which improved to 15-8 overall. In search of its 20th win, St. Joe's dipped to 19-6.
After fighting off the Monks, 3-2, earlier in the season, the Nor'easters set the tone early by winning the first two sets by the score of 25-17. UNE held off a late bid by SJC in the third frame to put the match away.
Junior
Angie Brunette (North Andover, Mass.) led the way for the winners with 10 kills and three total blocks. Senior
Jillian Goldstein (Lynnfield, Mass.) finished with nine kills, while classmate
Paige Curran (Chelmsford, Mass.) and sophomore
Leah Janelle (Madbury, N.H.) added eight apiece. Curran also served up a match-high three aces.

Maria Kuehl (Middleton, N.H.) dished out 30 assists for Big Blue, which also had a strong defensive evening. Senior
Jackie Stone (Saginaw, Mich.) was credited with 15 assists, while Goldstein and Janelle each had 13. Junior libero
Kirsta Adie (Tyngsboro, Mass.) added 11 digs to UNE's team total of 66.
Senior Sarah Hawkes (Pownal, Maine) put down a match-high 12 kills to lead the way for St. Joe's.
UNE returns to action Wednesday (Oct. 24) evening with a 7 p.m. road engagement at the University of Southern Maine.
