BRISTOL, R.I. -- Junior Amy Cripps (Exeter, R.I.) scored off a Roger Williams University corner kick in the 43rd minute, and the Hawks kept the University of New England off the scoreboard to take a 1-0 Commonwealth Coast Conference win in a women's soccer match played Saturday (Oct. 20) afternoon at Bayside Field.
Winners of three consecutive games, the Hawks maintain a share of second place with their 6-1-1 conference mark while improving to 9-5-2 overall. UNE drops to 7-10, 5-3 in CCC action.
Cripps drove home a service from junior Katie Lydon (Riverside, R.I.) for her first goal of the season, The tally would stand up, as the Hawks limited the Nor'easters to just five shots for the day, none of which were on goal. Junior goalkeeper Stephanie Jaques (Burlington, Vt.) was credited with the shutout.

Samantha Guyette (Newport, Vt.) made six stops for the Nor'easters, who conclude their regular season Tuesday with a 4:30 p.m. match at Eastern Nazarene College. The winner of the game will secure a home quarterfinal-round contest next Saturday (Oct. 27) in the league postseason tournament.
