BRISTOL, R.I. -- Junior Trevor Hoxsie (Scarborough, Maine) scored a goal and assisted on the other to help lead the Roger Williams University men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over the University of New England in Commonwealth Coast Conference action before a capacity crowd of 600 at Bayside Field Saturday (Oct. 20) afternoon.
The Hawks (13-4, 6-1 CCC) got the only goal they would need late in the first half when Hoxsie found James Sheldon (Amherst, N.H.), who fired the ball into the right corner of the net to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage.
Hoxsie doubled the Roger Williams lead 3:30 into the second half when he converted a penalty kick for his team-leading 10th tally of the season.
Goalkeeper Jon Pelloso (Wilbraham, Mass.) upped his record to 6-1 for the Hawks, making one save. For the match, Roger Williams held a commanding 29-4 margin in shots.
Sophomore
Aidan McParland (Brockville, Ontario) came up with six saves for the Nor'easters (6-9-1, 2-5-1), who conclude their regular season Tuesday (Oct. 22) at Eastern Nazarene College.
