Nor'easters move to 5-2 in CCC with win at ENC

QUINCY, Mass. -- The University of New England women's volleyball team utilized a balanced attack to take a 3-0 win over Eastern Nazarene College in a Commonwealth Coast Conference match played Tuesday (Oct. 16) evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center. Set scores were 25-20, 25-17, 25-21.

Winners of six of their last seven, the Nor'easters upped their record to 13-6 overall, 5-2 in conference play. The Lions fell to 11-14 (1-5 CCC). UNE has won the last nine meetings between the two squads.

Big Blue had four players with seven or more kills, including a match best 10 by junior Angie Brunette (North Andover, Mass.). Senior Jillian Goldstein (Lynnfield, Mass.) put down eight balls, while senior Jackie Stone and sophomore Leah Janelle (Madbury, N.H.) added seven apiece. Janelle also served up four aces.

Junior Maria Kuehl (Middleton, N.H.) handed out 30 assists and assisted on four blocks, while senior Paige Curran (Chelmsford, Mass.) chipped in three block assists and two of the solo variety. Defensively, senior libero Kirsta Adie (Tyngsboro, Mass.) recorded 14 digs.

Junior Cayla Clinkscale (Winchendon, Mass.) paced Eastern Nazarene with eight kills and a .364 attack percentage.

The Nor'easters will host Colby College in a non-conference match this Thursday (Oct. 18) at the Harold Alfond Forum. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
