Alex Alsadi battled in the paint all night to finish with nine points and 11 caroms
Box Score
BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Endicott College received a 14-point, 17-rebound effort from senior Erik Gallo (Southington, Conn.) to help lead the Gulls to a 62-48 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's basketball victory over the University of New England Thursday evening at James A. Beaudry Gymnasium.
Now at 11-4 overall on the season, Endicott moves to 6-2 in league play. The Nor'easters fall back to 1-13, 1-6 in CCC contests.
Gulls first-year John Henault (Lunenburg, Mass.) added 13 points to the winning cause, tossing in three treys in the process. Sophomore Lachlan Magee (Melbourne, Australia) also reached double figures with 11 points, to go with eight boards and five assists.
Junior
Alex Alsadi (Scottsdale, Ariz.) fininshed with nine points, 11 rebounds, four steals, and a pair of blocks for UNE. Senior
Jarryd Rossignol (Caribou, Maine) had nine points as well -- all on three-pointers.
The Nor'easters led briefly in the opening moments of the game, and trailed 11-10 after nine minutes of action. Endicott scored the next five in short order to go up by six (16-10), before both teams went on a five-minute scoring drought.
Five more from the Gulls pushed the gap to 11 (21-10) with 4:21 left in the first, and while UNE chipped the deficit down to four as intermission neared, the difference was 10 (29-19) at the break. Magee registered nine of his 11 points in the period for the Gulls.
The Nor'easters turned the ball over just once in the half, but suffered from 18 percent (7-for-39) shooting from the floor.
Down 13 (37-24) several minutes into the final frame, Big Blue put together a 9-2 run -- including two baskets from Rossignol -- to get back within six at the 13:07 mark, but that was as close as UNE would get.
Both squads are back at it on Saturday, as Endicott hosts Eastern Nazarene College (1 p.m.), and the Nor'easters head to Western New England University (3 p.m.).
