BANGOR, Maine -- Maine Maritime Academy received scores from three different players in the second half to defeat the University of New England, 3-0, in a men's soccer contest at the Husson University Classic Sunday afternoon at Boucher Field.

The Mariners move to 1-0-1 on the young season, while UNE remains without a win in three tries.

Chad McDonnell connected on a pass from Gabriel Warren just 2:03 from the halftime break to put MMA in front. Abdullah Alkhayyat (53rd minute) and Nick El-Hajj (82nd) added goals later to produce the final margin, both coming on assists from Nate Tipton.

For Maine Maritime, which finished with an 18-11 cushion in shots, goalie William Lacour needed to make just four saves to earn the shutout and the win.

The Nor'easters, who visit the University of Southern Maine on Wednesday (4 p.m.), got three stops out of first-year keeper Aidan McParland (Brockville, Ontario).
