Westfield State pulls away from UNE for 3-1 victory

Junior Paige Curran had 14 kills and three blocks in a strong match up front

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- After splitting the first two sets, the Westfield State University women's volleyball team took sets three and four to claim a 3-1 victory over the University of New England at the Springfield College Invitational held at Blake Arena.

Westfield State earned the victory with set scores of 25-17, 21-25, 25-22 and 25-20.

Junior Paige Curran (Chelmsford, Mass.) had a strong match for Big Blue, racking up 14 kills, nine digs and three blocks. Senior Abby Davis (Somersworth, N.H.) contributed nine kills and 17 digs, while sophomore Angie Brunette (North Andover, Mass.) was credited with seven kills.

Sophomore setter Maria Kuehl (Middleton, N.H.) fueled the offense with 29 assists to go with 12 digs. Classmate Ashley Thibodeau (Nashua, N.H.) dug out 13 balls to help out the Nor'easters' back-line defense.
