SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Plymouth State University defeated the University of New England women's volleyball team Friday evening, 3-0, by set scores of 25-18, 25-19, and 25-15. The match was the first of four for both teams at the Springfield College Invitational as action began at Dana Gymnasium.

For UNE, junior Paige Curran (Chelmsford, Mass.) registered a team-best six kills to go with four blocks and five digs. Sophomore setter Maria Kuehl (Middleton, N.H.) had 14 assists in match, while adding three aces and seven digs to the cause. Senior Abby Davis (Somersworth, N.H.) posted a team-high nine digs.

The Nor'easters also received five kills from sophomore Angie Brunette (North Andover, Mass.) and three blocks from junior Jackie Stone (Saginaw, Mich.).

Big Blue will face familiar foe Roger Williams University in its next match, beginning at 7 p.m.
