Roger Williams gets past UNE; sweeps own invitational

BRISTOL, R.I. -- The Roger Williams University women's volleyball team surrendered the second set to the University of New England on Saturday, but controlled the rest to earn a 3-1 victory with set scores of 25-11, 17-25, 25-12, and 25-12. With a 3-0 mark on the day, the host Hawks took first place at their RWU Invitational.

Junior Paige Curran (Chelmsford, Mass.) had six kills and three blocks for the Nor'easters (1-6), who return to Biddeford for their first home contest on Tuesday (7 p.m.) against Bowdoin College.

Sophomore Maria Kuehl (Middleton, N.H.) and junior Jackie Stone (Saginaw, Mich.) had 31 digs between them, and Kuehl tallied 14 assists of her own.

For her efforts in the day's three matches, Curran was named with five others to the all-tournament team.
