BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The nationally-ranked Endicott College men's lacrosse team scored seven times in the second period to break open a close contest on its way to a 20-6 The Commonwealth Coast Conference win over the University of New England on Wednesday afternoon at the Big Blue Turf.
The 20th-ranked Gulls won for the sixth straight time to improve to 8-2 overall and remain perfect in TCCC play at 6-0. The Nor'easters saw a three-game win streak come to an end in falling to 5-7 overall, 1-4 in conference matches.
With the score knotted at two with a period gone by, Endicott scored six of the first seven goals of the second frame, including three during a locked-in, man-up situation. Sophomore Connor McCormack (Norwalk, Conn.) had a pair of tallies during the flurry.
The Gulls outscored the hosts 11-2 in the second half to cruise to victory.
McCormack finished with a game-high four goals to pace Endicott, which led in shots (62-25), ground balls (61-35) and face-offs won (22-6). Senior Chris Cotter (Lordship, Conn.) chipped in three goals and three assists, while classmate Brian Estes (Derry, N.H.) had three goals and two helpers. Seniors Jack Curtis (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Chris Gugino (West Hartford, Conn.) and junior Jon Thanas (Cumberland, R.I.) each added a pair of goals.
Junior Sam Ozycz (Cheshire, Conn.) won 22 of 28 draws and scooped up 14 ground balls for the Gulls, who received eight saves from sophomore Mike Klein (Darien, Conn.).

Both teams return to action Saturday with TCCC matches. Endicott hosts New England College at noon, while the Nor'easters travel to Paxton, Mass. for a 3 p.m. tilt at Anna Maria College.
