Nor'easters squeeze out 5-3 win over Richard Stockton

Box Score

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- After Richard Stockton College scored two in the top of the sixth to tie the game at 3-3, the University of New England answered back with two in the bottom of the frame to pick up a 5-3 victory Friday afternoon at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Softball Classic.

First-year Amanda Vaudreuil (Windham, N.H.) started the last half of the sixth with a single, and moved over to second on a sacrifice. Junior Maegen Johnson (Standish, Maine) singled up the middle and advanced to second on the throw that failed to get Vaudreuil at third.

The Nor'easters (4-5) went in front as first-year Allison Frazier (Tewksbury, Mass.) put down a bunt with everyone off on contact, scoring Vaudreuil before the throw reached the plate. Sophomore Casey Brigham (New London, Conn.) followed with a bunt on another attempted squeeze play, and Johnson scored without a throw to increase the lead to two (5-3).

Senior Amber Zablowsky (Rochester, Mass.) went the distance to even her record at 2-2, striking out three and giving up five hits.
