FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Senior Stephanie Podolski (Coventry, Conn.) cleared the bases with a pinch-hit home run in the sixth inning, helping the University of New England softball team secure an 8-2 victory over Lasell College on Tuesday, in the fifth game of 10 at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic.

Junior Ashley Gott (Winterport, Maine) and sophomore Erin Grover (Biddeford, Maine) each collected a pair of hits and scored two runs for the Nor'easters (1-4). Podolski's homer was the first of her career.

UNE received a six-strikeout performance from junior Erin Lyons (Salem, N.H), who gave up one earned run on five hits and two walks.

For Lasell, sophomore Alison Saluti (Braintree, Mass.) was tagged for seven earned runs on seven hits. The Lasers are winless in five outings (0-5).
