Box Score

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Junior goaltender Seth McNary (Woburn, Mass.) had 34 saves to record his second shutout, as third-ranked Castleton State College skated to a 6-0 ECAC East men's ice hockey win over the University of New England on Saturday afternoon at Biddeford Arena.

With the win, the Spartans improve to 18-2-1 overall (12-2-1 ECAC East) and remain tied with Norwich University atop the league standings.

Castleton doubled its lead less than a minute later when first-year Nick Lazorko (Rockwall, Texas) tallied on a scramble in front of the cage.

The Spartans put the game away with three goals in the second. Sophomore Josh Harris (Torrance, Calif.) drove home his 14th goal, then sophomore Dan Bell (Victoria, British Columbia) and senior Stuart Stefan (Dehli, Ontario) added markers to give Castleton a 5-0 cushion.

Junior Cody Ayers (Colorado Springs, Colo.) notched a power-play goal in the third to complete the scoring for the Spartans, who held a 46-34 advantage in shots on goal.

UNE senior Mike Roper (New Glasgow, Nova Scotia) made 28 stops in two periods of action. First-year Connor Brogan (Hershey, Pa.) came up with 12 saves in the final frame.

The Spartans return to ECAC East play Friday when they host in-state rival Norwich at 7 p.m.
