BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Babson College scored five times over the final two periods to come back and defeat the University of New England men's ice hockey team, 5-2, in an ECAC East League contest Friday evening at Biddeford Ice Arena.
The win snaps a three-game losing streaks for the Beavers (3-5), who move to 3-2 in league play. The Nor'easters drop to 2-5-1 overall, and sit at 1-4-0 in ECAC East games.
First-year Mike Driscoll (Milton, Mass.) tallied a pair of goals to pace Babson, while seniors Cody Carlson (Peterborough, N.H.) and Sean Roche (Franklin, Mass.), and junior Jay Haseley (Rochester, N.Y.) also got into the scoring column with goals.
Three Beaver players -- senior Mike Hoban (Medfield, Mass.) and sophomores Matt Furey (Quincy, Mass.) and Ryan Heavey (Andover, Mass.) -- each recorded two assists, and senior goalie Andrew Peabody (Marblehead, Mass.) posted 32 saves to get his first win of the year.

Scott McManaman (Amherst, Nova Scotia) doubled the margin for Big Blue five minutes later, taking a feed from first-year
Zeth Zielinski (Woonsocket, R.I.) and sophomore
Zach Lokey (Elizabethtown, Pa.) and pocketing his fifth marker of the year. The first period ended with just the two goals and no penalties, as well as with Big Blue holding a 15-9 edge in shots.
Carlson put Babson on the board midway through the second frame, and Driscoll scored on the power play with 4:45 left in the period to even things up. Roche netted the third goal in the stanza for the visiting team just 56 seconds later, and the Beavers took the 3-2 cushion into the second intermission, after commanding the period with a 21-5 shot margin in their favor.
Babson wasted little time establishing a 4-2 lead in the third, as Haseley scored with 1:06 gone. The two-goal difference remained the rest of the way until Driscoll registered an empty-net goal with 25 ticks left.
