The Spartans received goals from Nick Lazorko and Murray to begin the second and go up, 3-2, before two solid passes from first-year Zeth Zielinski (Woonsocket, R.I.) and senior Brendan Brickley (Everett, Mass.) set-up junior Brent Bourgeois (New Haven, Vt.) for the equalizer with under eight to go in the period.

Castleton's Justin Alonzo broke up the tie with 35 seconds left in the stanza, and Bell made it 5-3 with his second of the night at the 19:56 mark to gain the momentum heading into the third. Less than three minutes into third the Spartans made the margin three (6-3), and added four more the rest of the way.

Bell finished with four points to lead the way for the home team, while Ben Schoeneberger matched his teammate with two goals in the third. Wieland ended up with a trio of assists for Castleton (1-0), which entertains the University of Southern Maine on Saturday.
