Jessica Sweeney (Hampton, N.H.) won the 50 backstroke along with the 500 free, and sophomore Jenn LaComfora (Worcester, Mass.) the 200 back and 200 IM. Both of Sweeney's triumphs were by fractions of a second, as her time in the 50 back (30.95) left her 0.51 seconds clear of the next faster competitor, and the 5:38.13 in the 500 free was a mere 0.32 seconds ahead of the next best time.
Collins was one of three individuals to capture events for Simmons (2-1), touching the wall first in the 200 free. Juniors Molly Bohannon (Westbrook, Conn.) and Anne Karasek (Brookline, Mass.) got the other two, in the 200 fly and 1,650 free, respectively.
