BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The Western New England men's soccer team scored three-second half goals to pull away from the University of New England for a 4-1 Commonwealth Coast Conference victory Saturday afternoon at Barbara J. Hazard Field.
In extending their win streak to five matches, the Golden Bears improve to 11-2-1 overall and remain perfect in league play with a 5-0 mark. UNE (2-9, 1-5 CCC) suffers its sixth consecutive setback.
The lone goal of the first half came on senior Corey Howard's (Hopedale, Mass.) sixth tally of the season. Howard took a pass from senior Shawn Fitzpatrick (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) and directed a low shot inside the left post in the 24th minute.
WNE would get the eventual game-winner at the 63-minute mark on a goal from sophomore Ryan Williams (Brewster, N.Y.).

Jon Planer (Yarmouth, Maine) was busy for the Nor'easters, stopping a total of 10 shots, including a penalty kick in the first half.
WNE will look to push its win streak to six on Tuesday when it hosts Roger Williams University in a showdown of the two top teams in the CCC.
The Nor'easters are idle until next Saturday when they travel to Salve Regina University.
