BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The Western New England men's soccer team scored three-second half goals to pull away from the University of New England for a 4-1 Commonwealth Coast Conference victory Saturday afternoon at Barbara J. Hazard Field.

In extending their win streak to five matches, the Golden Bears improve to 11-2-1 overall and remain perfect in league play with a 5-0 mark. UNE (2-9, 1-5 CCC) suffers its sixth consecutive setback.

The lone goal of the first half came on senior Corey Howard's (Hopedale, Mass.) sixth tally of the season. Howard took a pass from senior Shawn Fitzpatrick (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) and directed a low shot inside the left post in the 24th minute.

WNE would get the eventual game-winner at the 63-minute mark on a goal from sophomore Ryan Williams (Brewster, N.Y.).

First-year Ryan Mastalerz (Elkridge, Md.) extended the visitors' lead to 3-0 in the 70th minute before sophomore Steve Contestabile (Rochester, N.Y.) got Big Blue on the scoreboard with a corner kick goal set-up by senior Kiel Hiller (Galloway, N.J.) and sophomore Evan Healy (Mashpee, Mass.).

Golden Bear senior Alex Rosario (Chicopee, Mass.) cashed in from 45 yards out with 13 seconds remaining to make the final margin 4-1.

Sophomore goalkeeper Domenick Villano (Bronxville, N.Y.) played a scoreless 76:01 in net to record the victory and up his record to 9-1.

Senior Jon Planer (Yarmouth, Maine) was busy for the Nor'easters, stopping a total of 10 shots, including a penalty kick in the first half.

WNE will look to push its win streak to six on Tuesday when it hosts Roger Williams University in a showdown of the two top teams in the CCC.

The Nor'easters are idle until next Saturday when they travel to Salve Regina University.
