Maria Kuehl recorded her 11th double-double of the season to help UNE get the win
WILLIMANTIC, Conn. -- Sophomore
Maria Kuehl (Middleton, N.H.) tallied 22 assists, 15 digs, five service aces, and two blocks to help pace the University of New England in a 3-0 sweep of Wheaton College (Mass.) in women's volleyball action Friday night at the 31st Annual Crabtree Invitational, hosted by Eastern Connecticut State University at Geissler Gymnasium. Set scores were 25-18, 25-17, and 25-13.
Winners of five out the last six, the Nor'easters move to 7-10 overall. The loss sets the Lyons back to 2-17 on the year.
Junior
Paige Curran (Chemlsford, Mass.) had 12 kills and three blocks to lead the attack, while first-year
Leah Janelle (Madbury, N.H.) ended with nine kills and three aces. Defensively, senior
Abby Davis (Somersworth, N.H.) and sophomore
Kirsta Adie (Tyngsboro, Mass.) combined for 29 digs.
UNE resumes play Saturday morning (11 a.m.) against the host Warriors, and follows that at 1 p.m. with a date against Bridgewater State University. Wheaton gets Worcester State University in the early afternoon, before closing the event against Eastern Connecticut.
