BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Behind five power play goals, No. 4 Bowdoin College improved to 10-2 on the season with an 8-0 win over the University of New England in an ECAC East/NESCAC crossover game played Saturday afternoon at Watson Arena.
The Polar Bears received a hat trick from sophomore Daniel Weiniger (Warren, N.J.), who also added a pair of assists. Senior Jeff Fanning (Billerica, Mass.) chipped in with two goals and an assist, while classmate Kyle Shearer-Hardy (Montreal, Quebec) factored in a handful of Bowdoin scores with five assists -- matching the program's single-game record.
Bowdoin senior Brendan Reich (Montvale, N.J.) and first-year Colin Downey (East Sandwich, Mass.) each tallied a goal and an assist in support.
Between the pipes for the hosts, who are now 7-2 in NESCAC contests, first-year Steve Messina (Newton, N.J.) posted 20 stops to earn the team's first shutout of the year.

The Polar Bears hit the road for a conference match with Tufts University next Friday (7:15 p.m.), while the Nor'easters are back in action the same day at league opponent Babson College (7 p.m.).
