Nor'easters roar back to tip Maine Maritime, 3-2

A furious comeback was the story as the Nor'easters rallied for a 3-2 victory over MMA

GORHAM, Maine -- Down two sets to none, the University of New England Nor'easters came storming back to overtake the Maine Maritime Academy Mariners, 3-2, at the University of Southern Maine Invitational Saturday afternoon at Warren Hill Gymnasium.

The Nor'easters dropped the first two sets (22-25, 18-25) before getting things in gear to rally and take the final three frames (25-22, 25-18, 15-7). 

Sophomore middle hitter Paige Curran (Chelmsford, Mass.) led the Nor'easters with 13 kills and four total blocks. Sophomores Lindsey Cashell (Merrimack, N.H.) and Jill Goldstein (Lynnfield, Mass.) added six kills apiece.

First-year setter Nicole Kalinowski (Tucson, Ariz.) handed out 23 assists, while classmate Maria Kuehl (Middleton, N.H.) added 12 to go with five aces. The duo also combined for 22 digs. Rookie Kirsta Adie (Tyngsboro, Mass.) was credited with a team-best 25 digs.

MMA first-year middle Melissa Lail (Elizabeth, Colo.) recorded match highs with 15 kills and 10 service aces.
