Big Blue extends streak to four with 3-0 victory at UMF

Senior Angig Gust served up three of the Nor'easters' 14 aces in a win at UMF

FARMINGTON, Maine -- The University of New England Nor'easters upped their win streak to four matches with a 25-13, 25-19, 25-8 victory over the host Beavers at the University of Maine Farmington Invitational Saturday afternoon at Dearborn Gymnasium.

Sophomore Paige Curran (Chelmsford, Mass.) had a match-best nine kills in just two sets of play to pace UNE (8-5), winners of four straight. Senior tri-captain Angie Gust (Manitowoc, Wisc.) finished with a season-high six kills, while fellow senior tri-captain Kristen Edwards (Laconia, N.H.) added five.

First-year setter Maria Kuehl (Middleton, N.H.) handed out 16 assists to fuel Big Blue's attack.

UNE was strong at the service line, racking up 14 aces. First-year Nicole Kalinowski (Tucson, Ariz.) had four while Gust added three.

Emily Beebe (Bristol, R.I.) and Bridget Flaherty (Plymouth, Mass.) had four kills apiece to lead the way for the Beavers (2-7).

The Nor'easters return to action Wednesday evening with a key The Commonwealth Coast Conference tilt at Salve Regina University.
