Box Score
BEVERLY, Mass. -- Endicott College jumped ahead midway through the first half with a pair of scores eight minutes apart, and went on to pick up a 3-1 The Commonwealth Coast Conference win over the University of New England in women's soccer action Tuesday afternoon at Endicott Stadium.
The Gulls (4-2-1, 3-0 TCCC) rebounded from last season's 2-1 overtime loss at the hands of UNE -- Big Blue's only triumph in the last 11 meetings with Endicott. The Nor'easters fall to 5-2 overall (2-1 TCCC) with the setback.
Sophomore Chelsea Garlock (Meriden, Conn.) opened the scoring in the 21st minute, taking a cross from junior Colleen Pepin (Fairhaven, Mass.) in front and putting in her first goal of the season.
In the 29th minute, first-year Heather Moody (Dunstable, Mass.) sent in a corner kick to senior Kayla Corbett (Danvers, Mass.), who doubled the host's advantage going into halftime.
Pepin recorded her second assist of the day in the 59th minute when sophomore Micaela Hogan (Salisbury, Mass.) ripped a low shot just inside the left post to push the lead to 3-0.
UNE first-year
Morgan Jensen (New Hartford, Conn.) broke up the shutout less than 10 minutes later, collecting a long cross senior
Cassie Zdrojeski (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) on the left wing and knocking in her fifth goal of the season.
The Gulls, who out-shot their opponents by a margin of 21-8, received three saves from first-year keeper Natalie Wyrsch (Dover, N.H.). Her counterpart, UNE junior
Jess Woodworth (Concord, N.H.), made nine stops.
Endicott returns to action Thursday when it travels to Babson College. The Nor'easters are off until Saturday, when they host Gordon College at 2:30 p.m.
