Dan Crear (North Attleboro, Mass.) broke a 1-1 tie with a goal in the 75th minute, giving the University of New England a 2-1 come-from-behind win over the host Endicott College Gulls in The Commonwealth Coast Conference men's soccer action under the lights Tuesday evening.
Trailing 1-0 at the break, the Nor'easters took advantage of a Gull defensive lapse in the 47th minute when sophomore
Ethan Wells (Franconia, N.H.) intercepted a pass and lifted a shot over the head of Endicott keeper Daniel Higgins (Kingstown, R.I.) to knot the match at one. The tally was Wells' first-collegiate goal.
Senior
Jason Marks (East Lyme, Conn.) set-up Crear's game-winner, a high shot from the from the far right wing that found the top left of the goal.
The Gulls had established a 1-0 advantage in the 17th minute when sophomore Craig Jameson (Bedford, N.H.) took a feed from junior Ryan Coates (Wethersfield, Conn.) and deposited it in the back of the net.
Senior goalkeeper
Jon Planer (Yarmouth, Maine) had five saves for the Nor'easters, who grabbed the win despite being outshot, 18-6.
The victory was UNE's second in two seasons over Endicott after going winless the previous 10 meetings between the two squads.
The Nor'easters (3-2-2, 1-1-1 TCCC) host Gordon College Saturday at 5 p.m.
Higgins made two stops for Gulls (0-5-1, 0-3), who take on Springfield College Thursday at 7 p.m.
