BEVERLY, Mass. -- Endicott College scored six goals each in the second and third periods to pull away from the University of New England to a 16-7 The Commonwealth Coast Conference men's lacrosse victory Wednesday afternoon.
Winners of four straight, the Gulls up their record to 6-4 overall (5-1 TCCC). The Nor'easters now sit at 4-7 on the season (1-5 TCCC) with their fifth consecutive setback.
The hosts were led by senior Brad Lipkvich (Madison, Conn.) and sophomore Jon Thanas (Cumberland, R.I.) with three goals apiece. Sophomore Justin Sproul (Londonderry, N.H.) chipped in with a pair of goals and an assist, while senior Jonathan Prentice (Chelmsford, Mass.) added a goal and two helpers.
Senior Eric Hagarty (Sudbury, Mass.) played the initial 25 minutes in goal for the Gulls, making five saves and allowing one marker to earn the win.
For UNE, sophomore Dylan Thomas (Pleasantville, N.Y.) and younger brother Tyler Thomas each tallied one goal and two assists. Sophomore netminder Nate Porter (Cohasset, Mass.) recorded 12 stops in 54 minutes of action.
Endicott rolled out to a 15-2 advantage late in the third period, before the Nor'easters closed the contest with five of the last six scores to produce the final margin.
The Gulls return to action Saturday at Nichols College (2 p.m.). UNE is set to host Western New England College the same day (1 p.m.).
