Luke DiFiore (Gloucester, Mass.), sophomore
Derek Arnold (Detriot, Mich.), and first-year
Tyler Thomas (Pleasantville, N.Y.) each scored four times as the University of New England cruised to a 24-2 win over Regis College in men's lacrosse action Wednesday evening.
The victory snapped a six-game losing streak for the Nor'easters (5-8), while Regis remains winless on the season at 0-7.
DiFiore's four-goal effort marked a season-high, while Arnold recorded his first four points of the season. Sophomore
Dylan Thomas (Pleasantville, N.Y.) added three scores and three assists, and junior
Michael Woods (Kittery Point, Maine) contributed two goals and three helpers.
Junior
Billy Davis (North Kingstown, R.I.) along with sophomores
Joe McCarthy (Billerica, Mass.) and
Nick Cusick (Duxbury, Mass.) also notched two markers apiece.
Three UNE goalies shared time defending the cage. Sophomore
Nate Porter (Cohasset, Mass.) posted two saves in 30 minutes of action, while first-years
Colin Bono (Mattapoisette, Mass.) and
Jay Letendre (Southington, Conn.) each got 15 minutes to make three and two saves, respectively.
Seven different players scored in the first period as the Nor'easters surged out to an 8-0 cushion. After three scores in the second quarter to lead 11-1 at the break, 10 third-period goals put the game out of reach.
UNE returns to the field Saturday for a The Commonwealth Coast Conference match at Roger Williams University (1 p.m.).
The Pride, who visit Becker College on Monday, received 13 saves from sophomore Andrew LaMacchia (Lynn, Mass.).
