Maegen Johnson (Standish, Maine) had four hits and scored five times to lead the University of New England Nor'easters to a 10-2, 11-6 sweep of Roger Williams University in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Paolini Field.
The win was the fourth straight for the Nor'easters, who improved to 9-3 overall and a perfect 4-0 in TCCC games. The Hawks slipped to 8-8, 2-2 in conference play.
The Nor'easters jumped out to an early lead in the opener. Sophomore

Marie Mantelli (Thompson, Conn.) each drove in a run in the first, and UNE scored another on a double steal. Senior
Lauren Webb (Jericho, Vt.) had a two-run double in the second to make the score 5-0.
That was all the support junior
Amber Zablowsky (Rochester, Mass.) would need. Zablowsky scattered seven hits and walked just one to improve her record to 5-1.

Megan Gauger (South Paris, Maine) had two hits apiece as the Nor'easters racked up 13 hits.
UNE continued to swing a hot bat in the second game, building a 9-0 lead before the Hawks got their offense in gear. Roger Williams responded with four runs in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the sixth to close to within three (9-6). The Nor'easters tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh to put the game away.
Johnson reached base four times with two hits (including a triple) and a pair of walks to score three times. Senior
Angie Damon (Scarborough, Maine) had two hits and two runs batted in, while Monteiro stroked a pair of singles.
Sophomore
Erin Lyons (Salem, N.H.) held RWU scoreless over the first four innings before tiring in the fifth. She improved to 4-2, allowing five hits and four runs -- just one earned. Zablowsky hurled the final 2 1/3 innings.
Junior Sarah Grill (Watervliet, N.Y.) had four hits over the two games to lead Roger Williams offensively. UNE pitching held Hawks' sophomore Hannah Pirez (Bolton, Mass.) to just one hit in six at-bats. Pirez was batting .486 with five home runs over her first 14 games.
The Nor'easters host Endicott College for a doubleheader tomorrow at Claude Dubois Field (noon start). The Gulls have won the last seven TCCC championships.
