ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Farmingdale State College Rams used a potent offense to score 19 runs in 10 innings and earn an 8-0, 11-3 sweep of the University of New England in a softball doubleheader played Thursday afternoon at the Walt Disney World Diamondplex.

The Rams, who won a pair of games at last year's NCAA Championship, upped their record to 7-5 by extending their win streak to six. The Nor'easters conclude their Florida trip with a 5-3 mark.

Farmingdale State pounded out 14 hits in the opener to support the shutout pitching of sophomore Hope Zino (Bay Shore, N.Y.). Zino scattered five hits while fanning five and failing to allow a walk.

Offensively, junior Nicole Farber (Oakdale, N.Y.) went 3-for-3 and knocked in three. She blasted a two-run homer in the third inning.

The game was halted after six innings due to the eight-run rule.

The Rams continued the offensive onslaught in the nightcap, closing out the twinbill sweep after just 4 1/2 innings.

Sophomore Aubrey Walker (West Babylon, N.Y.) belted a pair of big flys, including a two-run dinger in Farmingdale State's four-run third inning. First-year Maressa Mistretta (Shirley, N.Y.) contributed a two-RBI triple.

Junior Heather Buckshaw (Oakdale, N.Y.) spun a four-hitter to earn the victory.

The Nor'easters scored all three of their runs in the top of the fifth. The first run came across as a result of an error, and first-year Brittany Creamer (Lyman, Maine) would later add a two-run triple.

Senior Amber Zablowsky (Rochester, Mass.) and Erin Lyons (Salem, N.H.) were saddled with the pitching losses for UNE.

The Nor'easters will open their TCCC schedule Wednesday when they host Regis College in a 3:30 doubleheader at Claude Dubois Field.
