SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- With home playoff match implications at stake, the University of New England volleyball team came up big with a 3-2 victory over host Western New England College in the day's final match of a The Commonwealth Coast Conference tri-match held at the WNEC Alumni Center.

By virtue of their victory, the Nor'easters (19-10, 6-4 TCCC) end the regular season tied with WNEC and Salve Regina University for the fourth spot in the TCCC standings but hold the tiebreaker over both institutions. UNE will host WNEC in a quarterfinal-round match when the TCCC Championship gets underway Tuesday. That match is available live on Nor'easter All-Access beginning at 7 p.m.

UNE senior Kristen Edwards (Laconia, N.H.) wrapped up a brilliant afternoon with 17 points won on 11 kills, three aces, two solo blocks and a pair of block assists. Sophomore middle Paige Curran (Chelmsford, Mass.) paced the Nor'easters with 12 kills and just one attack error. First-year Maria Kuehl (Middleton, N.H.) set-up the offense with 30 assists and was successful on all 12 of her service attempts. She also had 11 digs to register her ninth double-double.

In the back row, the Nor'easters received 25 digs from first-year libero Kirsta Adie (Tyngsboro, Mass.).

Sophomore Lindsey Cashell (Merrimack, N.H.) offered a strong performance for Big Blue, digging out 11 balls and connecting on all 13 of her service attempts.

First-year Maureen Pollett (Dix Hills, N.Y.) had 11 kills to lead the way for the Golden Bears (10-19, 6-4).
