BIDDEFORD, Maine – Junior forward Terry Woods (Duxbury, Mass.) notched a pair of second-period goals to help lead the Babson College Beavers to a 6-0 shutout of the University of New England in an ECAC Men's East hockey game played Friday evening at Biddeford Arena.

The reigning ECAC East champion Beavers squared their overall record at 7-7-1 while climbing back to the .500 mark (5-5) in league play. UNE now stands at 1-14 (0-10 ECAC).

Babson got on the scoreboard at 15:03 of the first when senior Liam Chatterton (Staten Island, N.Y.) took a shot that missed the net but caromed off the boards and bounced off UNE goaltender Mike Roper (New Glasgow, Nova Scotia) and into the goal for the lone tally of the first period.

Woods found the cage twice on top-shelf wrist shots to help Babson pull away in the second stanza. The first came off feeds from first-year Ryan Smith (Lynnfield, Mass.) and senior Chris Fazekas (Montreal, Quebec) at the 3:25 mark. Woods' second goal was set-up by Fazekas and sophomore Mike Hoban (Medfield, Mass.).

Jay Haseley's (Rochester. N.Y.) first collegiate goal with two minutes remaining in the second gave the visitors a 4-0 advantage.

Farrell and sophomore Sean Roche (Franklin, Mass.) would add third-period goals to make the final margin 6-0.

First-year goaltender Zeke Testa (Wellesley, Mass.) had 36 saves to register the Beavers' third shutout of the season. Babson held a hefty 65-36 advantage in shots on goal.

Roper made a career-high 59 stops for the Nor'easters, who host UMass Boston tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m.

Babson will head to Gorham to take on the University of Southern Maine at 4 p.m.
