BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The Bowdoin College Polar Bears scored five times in the opening period on its way to a 7-1 victory over the University of New England in men's ice hockey action Saturday afternoon at Biddeford Arena.

Senior Colin MacCormack (Bedford, Nova Scotia) had two goals and one assist to pave the way for the Polar Bears. Adding three-point afternoons for Bowdoin were sophomore Graham Sisson (Chesterfield, Mo.) and first-year Robert Toczylowski (Reading, Mass.), who each had a goal and two assists.

Junior Jeff Fanning (Billerica, Mass.) and sophomores Erik Olson (Edina, Minn.) and Aaron O'Callahan (Glencoe, Ill.) rounded out Bowdoin's goal-scorers. Senior Leland Fidler (Waltham, Mass.) and junior Kyle Shearer-Hardy (Montreal, Quebec) each dished out a pair of assists.

The Nor'easters got into the scoring column in the second period when sophomore Kyle MacLennan (New Glasgow, Nova Scotia) went top shelf with a slap shot off passes from sophomore Ted Fabian (Oakland, Maine) and first-year Kody Collins (Keswick, Ontario).

Bowdoin senior goaltender Christopher Rossi (Barrington, R.I.) ran his record to an unblemished 5-0 with 19 saves. The Polar Bears outshot the Nor'easters 54-20.

First-year Dallas Ungurian (Edmonton, Alberta) and junior Mike Roper (New Glasgow, Nova Scotia) split time between the pipes for UNE. Ungurian allowed five goals while making 32 saves. Roper surrendered a pair of scores and came up with 15 stops.

The Polar Bears put the contest away in the early going, notching five goals in a span of 8:05 midway through the first period. Toczylowski completed a nifty give-and-go with MacCormack to start things. Fanning, MacCormack, Olson and O'Callahan found the cage consecutively to give the Polar Bears an insurmountable 5-0 advantage.
