Junior Kristen Edwards racked up a career-high 19 kills, but the Nor'easters fell to Babson

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The Babson College Beavers recovered from a 1-0 deficit to take a 3-1 victory over the University of New England Nor'easters in non-conference volleyball action Saturday afternoon at the Campus Center. Set scores were 22-25, 25-15, 25-19, 25-18.
Babson junior Nina Milovanovic (Belgrade, Serbia) and sophomore Meg Flaherty (Hollis, N.H.) each posted their second double-double of the afternoon, combining for a total of 36 kills and 26 digs. Earlier in the day, Milovanovic and Flaherty performed the feat in a 3-0 win over Lasell College.
First-year Kathleen Lynch (Quincy, Mass.) dished out 44 assists to help the Beavers' strong attack. Sophomore Alexa Untermann (Honolulu, Hawaii) was credited with five aces at the service line, while senior Becca Rydzik (Beacon Falls, Conn.) contributed 14 digs.
For UNE, junior Kristen Edwards (Laconia, N.H.) put down a career-best 19 kills, including eight in the first set. First-year Paige Curran (Chelmsford, Mass.) added 12 kills, two blocks and two service aces.
Senior setter Ellen Choinski (Saunderstown, R.I.) assisted on 33 of UNE's kills, while classmate Claire Varner (Breckenridge, Mich.) paced the Nor'easters' defense with 15 digs.
The Beavers (8-5) return to the court Tuesday with a road match at Mount Holyoke College (7 p.m.).
UNE (4-6) hosts Bowdoin College that same evening at 7 p.m. That contest is available live on the Web thru Nor'easter All-Access.
