BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Junior Michelle Doody (Franklin, Mass.) recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 16 digs, as the Colby-Sawyer College Chargers swept the University of New England 3-0 in the final contest of a The Commonwealth Coast Conference tri-match at the Campus Center.
Doody played a fine all-around match for the Chargers (7-1, 2-0 TCCC), connecting on all 10 of her serve attempts and returning each of the 11 services she received. Doody also added a pair of block assists.
Senior setter Genny Moore (Centerville, Mass.) contributed a total of 27 assists to go with three service aces. Senior Megan White (Monroe, Conn.) added seven kills, while classmate Kim Shannon (Wallingford, Conn.) and junior Stef Turner (Boxborough, Mass.) had six apiece. Shannon and Turner combined for five solo blocks.

Claire Varner (Breckenridge, Mich.) had eight kills and 10 digs to lead the way for the Nor'easters (3-4, 1-1). Junior

Lindsey Cashell (Merrimack, N.H.) each chipped in five kills. Senior Ellen Choinksi (Saunderstown, R.I.) set-up the attack with 17 assists.
Doody registered five kills and Moore 13 assists in the opening set as the Chargers jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a 25-13 victory. Colby-Sawyer went on to win the second by a score of 25-16, then completed the sweep with a final-set score of 25-22.
For the match, Colby-Sawyer hit a blistering .333 with just eight errors on 93 attack attempts.
Each team had defeated Regis College by identical 3-0 scores earlier in the day.
UNE returns to the court Sept. 23 with a non-conference road match at Colby College (6 p.m.). The Chargers are off until Sept. 29 when they travel to Middlebury College for a 7 p.m. tilt.
