HENNIKER, N.H. -- First-year Maegen Johnson (Standish, Maine) had a one-out double in the top of the seventh to break a 6-all tie, giving the University of New England a 7-6 win to complete a sweep of New England College in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference softball doubleheader.

The Nor'easters used a four-hitter by first-year pitcher Erin Lyons (Salem, N.H.) in the first game to take a 7-1 decision.

Trailing 5-2 in the nightcap, UNE knotted things up in the fifth by plating three runs.  Junior Jenn Waldecker (Hooksett, N.H.) had an RBI single, and the Nor'easters took advantage of an NEC error and passed ball to score their other two runs.

Each team pushed across a run in their respective half of the sixth to make the score 6-6.  Junior Julie Monteiro (Portsmouth, R.I.) got UNE's seventh inning rally started with a one-out double, and would come around to score one batter later when Johnson also doubled.

Senior Amber Zablowsky (Rochester, Mass.) earned the victory with five innings of relief.  Offensively, junior Angie Damon (Scarborough, Maine) led the way with three hits, while senior Megan Gaedje (Tolland, Conn.) had two hits and scored three times.

Lyons was dominant in the opener, surrendering four hits and no walks while striking out six to run her record to 9-5.

Senior Ashley DePasquale (Uxbridge, Mass.) was 3-for-3 and scored twice to pace the Nor'easters at the plate.  First-years Mallory Morin (Winslow, Maine) and Ashley Gott (Winterport, Maine) each had two hits and one RBI.

The sweep enabled the Nor'easters (21-11-1, 12-9-1 TCCC) to reach the 20-win mark for the third consecutive season.  They conclude their regular season tomorrow with a home doubleheader versus Roger Williams University.  First pitch at Claude Dubois Field is scheduled for noon.
