COCOA BEACH, Fla. -- The University of New England softball team completed its trip to Florida with a pair of wins Wednesday afternoon, defeating Carlow University, 8-3, and Daniel Webster, 3-2.

The Nor'easters pounded out 16 hits and took advantage of eight Carlow errors to come away with the victory in their first game of the day.  Leading 4-3 after six, UNE plated four runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull away.

Juniors Lauren Webb (Jericho, Vt.), Julie Monteiro (Portmouth, R.I.) and Angie Damon (Scarborough, Maine) had three hits apiece for the Nor'easters.  Senior Ashley DePasquale (Uxbridge, Mass.) added two runs batted in.

First-year pitcher Julie Bigelow (Montpelier, Vt.) worked the first four innings to register her first collegiate win.  Senior Jess Silvio (Beverly, Mass.) came on to earn the save.

In the nightcap, Webb's unassisted double play thwarted a Daniel Webster rally in the bottom of the seventh and provided UNE with a 3-2 win.

Webb also had a pair of hits, while junior Jenn Waldecker (Hooksett, N.H.) drove in two runs with a double and single.

First-year Erin Lyons (Salem, N.H.) improved to 2-0 with a complete game eight-hitter.  She walked just one and struck out seven.

The Nor'easters (5-1) return to Maine and will have two weeks off before they host Wentworth Institute of Technology March 25 in their The Commonwealth Coast Conference opener.
