Ali Trafton's second game-winning goal of the season gave UNE a 1-0 decision over Curry

Box Score

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Senior Ali Trafton (Manchester, Maine) scored in the 30th minute for the lone goal of the match, as the University of New England Nor'easters earned their fifth consecutive victory with a 1-0 shutout of Curry College in a match-up of two of the top Commonwealth Coast Conference women's soccer teams Tuesday evening.

After collecting a Curry turnover in the midfield, Trafton dribbled more than 20 yards and drove a low shot from the top of the box just inside the left post after Colonel goalkeeper Julia Tinetti (New Haven, Conn.) had come off her line in an attempt to stop Trafton.

The game was a defensive struggle, with both teams having limited quality scoring chances. For the match, the Nor'easters led in both shots (13-6) and corner kicks (2-1).

Senior Leigh Engel (Richmondville, N.Y.) needed just one stop to earn her first shutout of the season and 10th of her career. Tinetti recorded seven saves for the Colonels.

The win improves the Nor'easters' overall record to 9-1 and moves them into sole possession of first place in the TCCC standings with a 6-1 mark. They will face New England College in a noon road game Saturday.

Curry (8-2-2, 4-2-1) hosts Salve Regina University that same afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
