Junior Kristin Meza's second game-winner of the season gave UNE a 1-0 win on Senior Night

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Junior Kristin Meza (San Diego, Calif.) scored less than two minutes into the second half to give the University of New England Nor'easters a 1-0 The Commonwealth Coast Conference victory over Western New England College in women's soccer play Wednesday evening under the lights.
Meza collected a loose ball in the WNEC back and drove a low, left-footed shot just inside the right post to provide the only offense of the match. The tally was Meza's second-game winner of the season.
Each team had limited quality scoring opportunities throughout the contest. The Nor'easters held slight advantages in both shots (15-12) and corner kicks (6-5).
UNE senior Leigh Engel (Richmondville, N.Y.) made seven saves to record her fifth shutout. Her counterpart, senior Jessica Covino (Bristol, R.I.), turned aside six shots.
Winners of 10 of the their last 11 contests, the Nor'easters (14-2, 11-2 TCCC) are seeded second for the upcoming The Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship and will host No. 7 Wentworth Institute of Technology on Saturday. Game times and official tournament pairings will be released tomorrow morning.
The Golden Bears (9-8-1, 7-5-1), the No. 6 seed, will head to Bristol, R.I. to take on No. 3 Roger Williams University that same day.
