LEWISTON, Maine -- In morning play at the Bates College Invitational, Maine Maritime Academy rallied held off a late charge by the University of New England to take a 3-2 victory. Set scores were 19-25, 25-20, 25-17, 20-25, 15-13.

Junior Kristen Edwards continued her outstanding play from the night before to record 17 kills. First-year Lindsey Cashell contributed 12 kills, 17 digs and five service aces, while classmate Paige Curran won nine points with six kills and three blocks. Senior setter Ellen Choinski handed out 30 assists.

The Mariners improved to 18-5, while UNE dropped its third straight to fall to 8-14.
