Hawks soar to 3-0 volleyball win over Nor'easters

Junior Kristen Edwards had nine kills, but Roger Williams eased its way to its eighth straight win


BRISTOL, R.I. -- The Roger Williams University Hawks got off to a quick start and rolled to a 3-0 The Commonwealth Coast Conference volleyball win over the University of New England on Wednesday evening. Set scores were 25-16, 25-8, 25-22.

Junior Kristen Edwards had nine kills to lead the UNE attack. Senior Claire Varner finished with four kills and first-year Paige Curran added three. Defensively, first-years Lindsey Cashell and Jackie Stone were credited with five digs apiece.

By virtue of their eighth consecutive win, the Hawks improve to 15-8 overall and 5-1 in conference play. UNE falls to 7-11, 3-3 in TCCC matches.

The Nor'easters will host a TCCC tri-match this Saturday, opening play witih Salve Regina University at 11 a.m. and concluding the day's action at 3 p.m. versus Western New England College.
