Volleyball team remains perfect in TCCC play

Claire Varner registered a team-high 14 kills to go with 18 digs to lead in UNE's 3-1 win

PAXTON, Mass. -- Claire Varner posted a double-double of 14 kills and 18 digs to lead the University of New England volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over Western New England College in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference tri-match held at Anna Maria College.

The victory was the fifth consecutive win for the Nor'easters, who improve their overall mark to 6-6 while remaining perfect in conference play at 4-0.  Game scores were 26-24, 25-19, 20-25, and 25-23.

Alex Toregas contributed 12 kills, while Kristen Edwards chipped in with nine.  Ellen Choinski set up the offense by handing out 36 assists.  Chelsea Boyle and Josie Raphaelito supported the defensive efforts with 21 and 17 digs, respectively.
