Nor'easters down ENC to run win streak to four

UNE had plenty to cheer about Wednesday night, cruising to its fourth straight win

QUINCY, Mass. -- The University of New England volleyball team won its fourth straight match by defeating Eastern Nazarene College, 3-1, in The Commonwealth Coast Conference volleyball action Wednesday evening at Lahue Recreation Center.

UNE (5-6, 3-0 TCCC) dropped the first set, 23-25, but recovered to win the next three by scores of 25-13, 25-17, and 25-18.  

Senior Alex Toregas led the way for the winners, recording 14 kills and eight blocks.  She was also successful on each one of her 13 service attempts.

The Nor'easters also got strong performances from juniors Ellen Choinski and Claire Varner.  Choinksi contributed 27 assists, three blocks and three service aces.  Varner pitched in with nine kills, three aces and was 20-for-20 on serve-receive attempts.

Defensively, sophomore Chelsea Boyle and senior Josie Raphaelito combined for 22 defensive digs for UNE, which will be looking for its fifth and sixth straight wins Saturday in a TCCC tri-match at Anna Maria College (with Western New England College).
