BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England Nor'easters got first-half goals from Dan Crear (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Kiel Hiller (Galloway, N.J.), then held off Colby-Sawyer College late for a 2-1 The Commonwealth Coast Conference men's soccer win Tuesday evening under the lights.

The victory was the Nor'easters' first TCCC win of the season, evening up their conference mark at 1-1-1 (2-2-2 overall).  Colby-Sawyer slipped to 1-7 overall, 1-2 in league play.

Midfielder Eric Goldberg (Colorado Springs, Colo.) set-up Crear's tally in the 29th minute, a blast from 25 yards out that slipped under the crossbar.  Goldberg then played the distributor's role 10 minutes later when his service from just inside midfield found the head of Hiller, who re-directed it into the net for his first collegiate score.

Trailing 2-0 with less than 10 minutes remaining, the Chargers rallied.  Off a set piece from the right corner, Doug Currie (Harvard, Mass.) passed to Pete Duff (Greensboro, N.C.), who rocketed the ball into the upper left-hand corner of the goal.  Colby-Sawyer continued to press the remainder of the contest, but Nor'easters were able to hold strong.

Derek Poulin (Scarborough, Maine) was credited with two saves for UNE.   His counterpart, Chris Feltes (Manchester, N.H.), made three stops.

Both teams return to play Saturday.  The Nor'easters host Salve Regina University (1:00 p.m.), while Colby-Sawyer heads to Roger Williams University (1:00 p.m.).
