Owen Evans (West Stockbridge, Mass.) broke a scoreless tie with 3:06 elapsed in sudden-death overtime, giving the University of New England Nor'easters a 1-0 victory over the Maine Maritime Academy Mariners in a non-conference men's soccer game Saturday afternoon.
Evans took a feed from sophomore midfielder
Elia Del Molino (Glendale, Mass.) and slid a low shot off the left post and into the goal for the lone tally of the match.
Although the Nor'easters held a sizeable advantage in shots (15-1), they were unable to finish until the overtime period. UNE nearly took a 1-0 advantage in the 73rd minute when first-year midfielder

Derek Poulin (Scarborough, Maine) needed just one save to record his seventh career shutout for the Nor'easters (1-0), who host the University of Southern Maine Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
Sophomore Randy Bartlett (Lincoln, N.H.) made four saves for Maine Maritime, which opens its home schedule Wednesday versus the University of Maine Machias (7:00 p.m.).
